Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about preserving a voice forever.
Getting Started
VoiceForEternity is a voice memorial platform that lets you preserve the voice, stories, and memories of someone you love — forever. You record audio directly through your browser or by phone, and your loved one's memorial lives at a unique web address, accessible anytime, anywhere. Optional laser-engraved stainless steel plaques with a QR code can be placed at a headstone, urn, garden, or columbarium so anyone can scan and listen.
After purchase, you create a memorial and begin recording. You can record directly from your browser using our built-in recording tools, or call our dedicated phone line and record by voice. Your memorial is given a unique web address and QR code. Family and friends can be invited to listen and even contribute their own recordings. If you ordered a plaque, it will arrive engraved with the QR code — scan it with any smartphone to hear the voice instantly.
Not at all. If you can make a phone call, you can create a memorial. Our browser recording tools are simple and guided, and our phone recording feature means you never have to touch a computer. We designed VoiceForEternity to be accessible to everyone — including older family members who may not be comfortable with technology.
Every purchase includes a permanent digital memorial page with your unique URL and QR code, unlimited listening access for family and friends, browser-based and phone recording tools, family invite and contribution features, and optional physical plaque add-ons. There are no subscriptions — you pay once and the memorial is yours.
Yes — in fact, many of our memorials are created by family members after a loved one has passed, often using existing voicemails, home videos, or recordings made by other family members who knew them. VoiceForEternity is designed for both — recording while your loved one is still with you, or preserving what remains after they are gone.
Individual recordings can be up to 30 minutes long. Digital tier memorials include up to 500MB of total storage, and physical product purchases include up to 2GB. Most families find this more than enough for a lifetime of stories.
Physical Plaques
Our plaques are laser-engraved on 316L stainless steel — the same marine-grade steel used in high-end jewelry and medical instruments. It is corrosion-resistant, weather-resistant, and built to last for generations outdoors or indoors.
Each plaque includes your loved one's name, birth and death years, a faith or personal symbol of your choice, and a unique QR code that links directly to their memorial page. The QR code works with any smartphone camera — no app required.
Plaques are available in four styles designed for specific placements: headstone mounting, urn display, garden stake installation, and columbarium placement. Each size is crafted to fit its intended location beautifully and discreetly.
Plaques are designed for easy installation using 3M VHB double-sided tape and an alcohol prep wipe, both included with your order. No drilling or permanent modifications required for most installations. Garden stakes are self-standing.
Plaques are handcrafted to order. Current estimated delivery is 2–4 weeks after your order is confirmed. You will receive an email notification when your plaque ships. We take care with every order because we understand what it represents.
Yes — you can add a plaque to an existing digital memorial at any time from your dashboard. Your QR code stays the same regardless of when you order.
The memorial URL is always accessible by typing it directly into any browser. Your loved one's memorial is never dependent on the physical plaque — the digital memorial exists independently and permanently.
Family Access
Yes. Anyone with the memorial link or QR code can listen to public recordings. For private or family-only recordings, you control exactly who has access through your dashboard.
Yes — this is one of our most meaningful features. You can invite family members and friends via a special link. They can submit their own recordings of memories, stories, and messages. Every contribution is held for your review and approval before it appears on the memorial. You stay in control of what is shared.
From your memorial dashboard, you can generate and share an invite link. Recipients can listen to the memorial and submit their own voice contributions without needing to create an account.
An Authorized Manager is someone you designate to help manage the memorial — approving contributions, adding recordings, and maintaining the memorial if you are ever unable to. You can assign a manager voluntarily through your dashboard, or a family member can submit a claim with supporting documentation for admin review. This ensures your loved one's memorial is always cared for.
The memorial remains active and accessible. If you have designated an Authorized Manager, they can continue managing the memorial. Family members can also submit a manager claim through our support process at support@voiceforeternity.com.
Phone Recording
Call our dedicated toll-free number at +1 (833) 909-1996, enter your memorial PIN when prompted, and record your message after the tone. Your recording is automatically saved to your memorial. It is that simple — no computer, no app, no technical knowledge required.
Your PIN is displayed in your memorial dashboard under the Phone Recording section in Settings. You have two PINs — a personal Owner PIN for your own recordings (auto-approved) and a Contributor PIN to share with family and friends (held for your approval).
Yes. Share your Contributor PIN with family and friends. When they call, they will be asked to say their name and relationship before recording their message. The recording is held for your approval before it appears on the memorial.
This is one of the most powerful ways to use VoiceForEternity. Call your loved one first, then add +1 (833) 909-1996 as a third party to the call. You can guide them through sharing their stories together in real time — your voice prompting theirs — making the recording even more personal and meaningful. This works especially well for older relatives who might not call on their own but will talk naturally when you are on the line with them.
Phone recordings can be up to 30 minutes per call, the same as browser recordings. You can call as many times as you like.
After three incorrect attempts, the system will politely end the call. Contact support@voiceforeternity.com if you need help locating your PIN.
Privacy & Security
You are in complete control. Memorials can be set to Private (only you), Family (invited members only), or Public (accessible to anyone with the link and eligible for The Listening Room). You can change this setting at any time from your dashboard.
Only people you choose. Private recordings are visible only to you. Family recordings are visible to invited family members. Public recordings are visible to anyone with the memorial link. Individual recordings can have their own visibility setting independent of the memorial's overall setting.
Yes. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Audio recordings are stored securely in Cloudflare R2 cloud storage. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard secure algorithms — we never store plain text passwords. We conduct regular security reviews of our platform.
Never. We do not sell personal information to third parties and we do not use your data for advertising. Your memories are yours. See our full Privacy Policy at voiceforeternity.com/privacy.
We are committed to the permanence of every memorial on our platform. In the event that we ever cease operations, we would provide advance notice and tools to download all recordings and memorial data. Your loved one's voice will never simply disappear without warning.
You are responsible for informing contributors that calls are recorded for memorial purposes before sharing your Contributor PIN. We recommend letting family members know before they call. See our Terms of Service for full details on phone recording responsibility.
